在一间简朴却闪烁着暖人光芒的房间内，一代著名地质学家李四光正伏案工作。他白发苍苍，精神矍铄，专注之余难掩风霜的疲惫。在他的身旁，相濡以沫的妻子许淑彬劝解着他，不要过于劳累。李四光望着妻子，若有所悟，他将妻子带到钢琴前，伴随着激昂的琴声，李四光的思绪回到了年轻时代。1918年，李四光在英国取得硕士学位，他发起其他国家优渥的待遇，毅然回到正经历苦难的祖国。他在北大担任教授，野外考察期间发现了第四纪冰川化石，然而却受到海内外的质疑，甚至与妻子的感情也出现了裂痕。 饱经战火的中华大地终于迎来曙光，在周总理的亲切关怀和安排下，李四光朝着伟大的理想继续迈进……。Based in 1934 in Duluth, Minn., during the Great Depression, “Girl From the North Country” centers on a group of wayward travelers as their lives intersect in a guesthouse.
