本剧讲述了一个失去了写作能力的健谈畅销推理小说作家，和一个失去了破案能力的高自尊精英刑警，两人都患上了易普症从而联手破案的悬疑喜剧故事。易普症（Yips）是一种心理疾病，是指人的肌肉、神经细胞和脑细胞受到心理冲突的影响，导致无法做以前能做的事情。。A group of 10 true crime obsessives are invited to the opening weekend of the newly renovated Cold River Motel, the site of a 30-year-old unsolved satanic mass murder.
