12月31日是一年的最后一天，人们都沉浸在欢乐的气氛中，等待这迎接新一年的来临。然而就是这天的早上，在美国底特律的一角，有组织犯罪调查科的警官马库斯(加布里埃尔·伯恩饰)率领着他的同事，包围了底特律犯罪集团的首脑马里诺·比绍普(劳伦斯·费什伯恩饰)。在经过了一场惊心动魄的战斗之后，终于被警察们所抓获，马库斯警官随即将马里诺押上了一辆囚车，准备把他解往监狱关押……。A group of students who are participating in a university's summer science camp are drawn into an incredible quagmire of conflicts, ranging from the relatively simple conflict between an engaging and forthright young teacher and his older manipulative colleague, to a contest pitting political correctness against free scientific inquiry.
